Personally? Loved this episode. I laughed and I cried. It was totally awesome, because Grey's hasn't made me do both in a long, long time. Keep in mind, I don't cry often. But, this, this made me cry. I laugh during nearly every episode of Grey's. But it takes a bit more to make me cry. Loved the whole 'plans' theme they had going on throughout the episode. Sometimes, things just don't turn out as you planned... 3.19 My Favorite Mistake Yo soy Doc! (Si, hablo espanol. xD)

3.19 My Favorite Mistake

Important Points:

The Interns:
-Ah, the morning after. I was particularly amused with how the voice over at the very beginning was directly talking of Izzie having a plan of sneaking out of the room before George woke up. It was sort of odd to see Izzie visibly flinch when George moved, though. Such a different reaction than it would normally be.

-The intern house. So much hustle and bustle and confusion and you know I just loved it? Izzie managed to escape her room without anyone noticing, but sure enough Meredith comes in after her with Cristina in tail. The conversation that followed was hilarious. Meredith suggested that Izzie and George were 'going at it' and Cristina adding that she didn't need to hear George's version of Sexy Back at 3 a.m. Priceless mornings there.

- Izzie's repetitive mumbling was amusing, too. At least she had an excuse (other than sleeping with her best friend). They all figured she's just hung over. If you look closely when Alex and the other two are talking, you see Izzie literally chucking back a bottle of asprin. That made me chuckle. It's the little things, you know?

- Also liked Cristina's 'Be kind, rewind' strategy. Wonderful name. So creative.

- 'Is that George? You said he was upstairs puking!' "So now he's downstairs puking." That was a nice exchange. And, when Izzie talks to George in the hallway, and he's completely hung over and doesn't remember a thing, you see this weird flash of emotion through her eyes. First, there's the distinct 'Thank God' look. And then there's...something else. I don't know what to call it, but generally when you have sex with someone (many times) you'd at least like to be remembered.

- Okay, I don't know why, but the entire Callie/George exchange in the intern locker room was simply hilarious. It had me laughing so hard. First of all, George is telling her how nice she looks and then she's telling him her father is coming. And he says how much parents like him. And she just tells him to take a shower.

- And Izzie's bursting in was a nice touch. 'Hey, O'Malleys! Go do your marraige things! Yay!' Very Izzie. Just a tad bit too perky to be, ah, normal.

- When Jane Doe, ah, Ava now, asked Alex just how this reconstructive surgery on her face was going to work, it was so...not Alex to pause in the middle and only go on when she told him she could take it. And then he continues with, 'He'll literally rip your face off'. Okay. Very Alex there.

- The Chief asking Meredith how she was doing was an 'awe' moment. It's like he's trying to keep a promise to Ellis by taking care of her daughter. So cute. And, Mark picked her to do a bone graft. Nice job, Grey.

- Izzie was just so flustered. But I found it hilarious. When Callie stopped Bailey and the interns and says she needs to talk to 'you', Izzie jumps the gun and thinks Callie means her personally. I loved the babbling, rambling 'Oh! Us as in all of us!' thing. Again, very Izzie.

- I loved how all Izzie wanted to do was get away from George (and Callie), and Bailey ends up assigning her to the O'Malleys' case anyway. Typical.

- Cristina taking Burke coffee and telling him 'this is what we do' was such a cute scene. And yet, Burke says they don't do that anymore and he wants to move forward. He has no interest in going back to the way things were. So much for the 'be kind, rewind' strategy.

- Izzie went to Addison for advice about what to do about the George situation. Addison was talking about dollhouses, and Izzie just bursts in about having sex with the wrong person. Addison's line there was priceless. Something about being the go-to person for adultery. Also loved how Izzie was trying to pin it like God made it feel so right because it was right, and Addison says 'God wants you to be an adulterer?' So funny.

- Cristina/Marlowe interaction is just so good. I don't know what it is about it, whether it's the British accent or just the fun of picturing Cristina with him that makes me love it, but when she told him off I cheered. Back off, Colin. And take your ten year plan with you.

- Jane Doe trying to pick a face, and the conflict with picking the wrong one was heartbreaking. And then, you have Alex, who says 'Yeah, that would suck but this is what you're gonna look like if you don't pick one!' Harsh, but true. And so Alex.

- I loved, loved the scene with George in the CT room, telling Mrs. Anderson to be still and she says 'I think I can handle that, Dr. O'Malley.' And it takes him a few seconds to process it, and he says 'Sorry about that Mrs. Anderson.' Classic George move, hungover or not.

- Also in that scene, we have Izzie asking George if he doesn't remember all those hours last night. And he remembers the bourbon but nothing else, and he tells her he didn't mean whatever he said or did last night. And Izzie tells him 'Trust me, George, you meant it. You meant it more then once.'

- Meredith studying up for her procedure and Derek's hovering had me laughing a bit. My favorite was the comment that, if Cristina slept in her own bed, Derek wouldn't have to hover. That was actually adorable.

- Intern lunch scenes have made a comeback! It was sad, though, when Izzie asked about black outs, and how Alex informed her that you usually don't remember what you don't want to remember.

- How unfortunate for poor George to realize just what happened last night in the middle of lunch with his father-in law. It didn't look as if he was making the best impression to begin with, but after refusing Mr. Torres's offer at a house, both Callie and her father seem to look at him in a different light. George, however, is only focused on what he's just discovered, and rushes off to find Izzie.

- Though there's no spoken words, that supply closet scene has got to be one of the most moving scenes I've seen in Grey's history. George and Izzie don't even say anything, but it's almost like you can hear the conversation going on between them by their actions, the looks in their eyes. There's anger, with George hitting the shelves, you can see that longing when Izzie touches his face, and he stops, holds her hand for only a second and lets go. After George left, Izzie could barely keep standing...

- Derek's just trying to protect Meredith, telling her she doesn't need to go on with the procedure and that Sloan's using her, but she says she doesn't need protecting. Because it's what her dead mother wants.

- Alex helping Eva pick out her face was so touching. How he described them and then basically told, by description of Jane Doe, which he thought she should choose was so sweet. It'll be kind of weird to see her with a new face...

- When Cristina's talking to Burke before his board meeting, about how he was the one the Chief originally chose, he tells her he's not that guy anymore, that he doesn't want to be that guy anymore, that he wants to be better. He wants to move forward. Cristina gets the message, sort of how her patient has to move forward with his one good foot.

- After the O'Malleys' and Izzie's patient dies, Izzie gives a speech on mistakes to the patient's daughter. The interesting thing is, that indirectly, Izzie is refering to her mistake with George. And it seems that Callie seems to respect this speech, and George might suspect it's about him. Which it is.

- Meredith decides to go on with the procedure after a talk with Mark. Mark says he's not an ass, and that he wants to help Meredith prove she's a surgeon again by letting her do this procedure. Of course, he is doing it for the points, too, but that's besides the point. She does the bone graft well, and makes dead mama Grey proud.

- George talks with Izzie in the locker room at day's end and they decide that their secret is going to be between the two of them. Even so, Izzie looks pretty distressed when stripping her bed of the soiled sheets, and even when with Callie, George is apologizing sincerely for his clothes smelling up the hotel room...but he's really apologizing for the adultery.

- Cristina agreed to get married. But the best line had to be the 'It has to be small. Me and you, and Meredith. And Shepherd if you want. And now religious stuff...' So Cristina.

- Meredith and Derek. I love how they have that sort of depression meter thing going on. The good thing is, that depression seems to go down with contact. And, as Meredith made her dead mother proud, she gets to have sex with a certain Mr. Shepherd.

Meredith Grey: So, after her near death experience, it seems the authorities of Seattle Grace Hospital are not treating the young Grey protege as a surgeon, but as a fragile person who might break at any given moment. In order to prove herself (and for Mark to gain Chief race points) she agress to do a difficult bone graft procedure on Alex's Jane Doe. Derek seems to think Mark is setting her up for failure, and tries to protect her, but Meredith gives him the 'I don't need protecting' speech and goes on with her practicing. However, she nearly bails out when it comes to procedure time, but with a little talk from Mark Sloan Meredith performs the procedure perfectly. She makes mommy proud. And manages to ease Derek's emotional pain afterwards.

Alex Karev: Alex helps Jane Doe find a new face, and a new identity in Eva. He uses a mix of his usual Alex attitude and his irresistable charm associated with Jane Doe to do so. He monitors her baby through surgery, and visits her afterward. As it turns out, she wants to be called Eva from now on. There's a moment between Alex and Addison, and Eva asks about it after Addison leaves, but Alex doesn't say much. Just smiles and shrugs it off in that oh so Alex way of his.

Cristina Yang: Her attempt to rewind time didn't fall too well with Burke, as he repeatedly informed her that he had no interest in going back. He only wanted to go forward. While working with an amputation patient, Cristina seems to realizes there's no going back. You can only move forward. And so, she decides to do so, by leaving Marlowe and the doubt he bestowed in her behind, and going to Burke to inform him they're still getting married. With a Justice of the Peace and Meredith and Derek as witnesses.

George O'Malley: After a late night of drunken fun, George remembers nothing but the alcohol. When asking Izzie, she tells him nothing happened, and he goes to work as usual. He's hungover, and looks terrible, and as it turns out, Callie's father has arranged to meet up with them for lunch. George can barely function at work, and in the middle of lunch he realizes what happened last night. He goes to Izzie, and they have an unspoken conversation that basically conveyed that this thing with them, it couldn't happen. So George went about his day, even getting praised by Callie and her father, and welcomed into the family. He and Izzie promise to keep the secret between them so as not to hurt Callie. But, that night, George's guilt causes him to apologize sincerely not for his clothing, but for his adultery.

Izzie Stevens:Struggling with the aftermath of her night with one George O'Malley, Izzie finds herself second guessing her feelings about the whole affair. Through the day, Izzie tries to deal with the emotions, even going so far as to ask Addison for advice. What she comes to realize, though, is that though it might have been a mistake, that something good could come out of it. She even goes so far as to give a little indirect speech about mistakes to the daughter of the O'Malleys' and her patient. Of course, her closet-meeting with George sort of kills these good thoughts, and they promise to keep their affair their little secret. At the end of the day, though, as Izzie's stripping the sheets, she seems overwhelmed with her thoughts (wants? needs?), and struggles to keep it together.

Attendings and Other Such Authorities:
- First of all, Colin Marlowe has a ten year plan. The Chief isn't pleased with this plan for his hospital, and talks to his Attendings about it. There's a scramble to get on top, with Burke doing a PowerPoint Presentation, Addison rehershing lines, Derek asking advice from Meredith and...Mark being Mark.

- Mark tells Addison not to fiddle with her glasses because it makes her look like she's indecisive. The conversation goes from weaknesses, Addison's being none and Mark's being Addison, to ten year plans. Obviously, Mark has none.

- There's a conversation between Mark and Derek, but it ends badly as Mark is apparently setting up Meredith for failure. Derek vows to hurt him if it goes badly.

- Mark asks Bailey what she'd change about the hospital, and she says 'a right now plan'. He uses that in his board meeting, and, as of now, is ahead in the race for chief.Bailey seems a cross between disgusted by this and admiring him.

- Derek confides to the Chief that Meredith can swim, and that she must've given up. He admits that he stays up at night just to hear her breathe. He's come to realize he could lose her, and he's become protective. It's affecting their relationship. But he can't help it.

- Derek's brooding. He seems so distracted by everything with Meredith that he messes up his meeting with the board. But his emotional pain is eased by a little bit of time alone with Meredith.

- Burke tells Cristina point blank that he doesn't want to go back, he wants to go forward, and eventually, it pays off.

Other:
- Not enough Bailey! I miss the Nazi!

- I actually really liked Mark this episode. He can be an ass, but he still cares about people. To an extent.

- Izzie and George. We'll see where we go from here...

...Wounds may heal, but scars are there to remind you where you've been. I don't know about you guys, but I really, really needed my Grey's fix tonight. After two weeks of repeats, I was looking toward Scars and Souvenirs with both excitement and apprehension. There was the whole opening act deal with the three-parter. A hard act to follow, right? We didn't want anything too death bed dramatic after our last new episode, but without drama, where would that leave Grey's? This episode was the perfect combination of comedic issues and there was drama where drama was due, but no one fell into a pier or had their hand in a bomb. It was Grey's drama. This episode had me laughing so hard. I don't know, but this was just what I needed after the dramatic ferryboat arc. There were jokes and subtle little amusing scenes that were just so...Grey's that I just loved. And now, enough rambling. On with the show!

Important points:

The Interns

The intern house has officially been completed! Cristina spent the night. Obviously. Alex is staying there in George's place, which was relatively funny what with his walking into the bathroom as Izzie gets out of the shower. 'Not interested'. Gotta love Alex.
I particularly enjoyed Meredith's reaction to this entire escapade, talking about how 'People Matter' and, my personal favorite, quoting the Pocahontas song. Paint with all the colors of the wind.
I love how George sits around and talks about how Izzie is so selfish, but not selfish, but self-absorbed, but not self-absorbed with patients. And how she should at least be able to channel some of that into talking to her best friend. It's like, he wants to be mad at Izzie, but he can't stay mad at her. It's hard to find bad in your best friend, it really is. Callie was a little irritated by that bit, preferring not to talk about her. xD
I adored the scene where Izzie asks for Bailey and walks in on all of the interns watching the Chief talk with Marlow. 'It was okay when it was just two of us, but now that it's eleven it's a bit more obvious' or whatever. Love it. Cristina's talking about Stanford, and Stanford people loving her was funny. Loved George's 'look away' strategy when the door opened. And then when Burke walked up in time to meet Marlow and witness him practically groping his fiance, that was simply priceless. The looks on the other interns' faces...
Okay, the scene where Izzie's talking to Meredith about what she's doing tonight and Meredith sees Thatcher and ducks into the supply closet, and then Cristina pops up and Izzie continues her conversation with her but then Cristina sees Marlow and ducks into the closest was hilarious. I was busting a gut laughing there.
And when Marlow was all 'We can hear you, you know' about the 'Cardio God' conversation, I fell off the couch.
George finally figured out what Callie had in common with Hilton. She's an heiress, and apparently, incredibly insecure. You know how men are, though. They need to bring home the most money or they fell all inferior. And George was already all stressed out about the marriage being a mistake...
I love intern lunch scenes. They're always so funny, even if the story could progress without them. Any scene with the interns alone together is awesome in my book. George talking to Meredith about the whole Callie being rich thing, and then Izzie coming along. I found it funny how George was referring to Izzie as 'her' and Izzie answered with 'I don't have a name now?' Nice.
...And after George left, there was discussion about Cristina's sex life with her former professor! Yay! I especially loved the entire persuasion thing Izzie had going on about the little blue pills. 'After all we've been through, you won't tell me anything?' Those pills work miracles. xD I love Cristina.
Alex and Izzie's conversation about 'moving on' was actually really nice. I love how he's there for her, even if he's not interested, and how she obviously still feels that scar of what she had with him. She doesn't want to see him with anyone else. The little peck on the cheek was actually sweet.
Cristina appeared in a burst of not-so glory with a potential crisis regarding her and Burke. I loved how she came immeadiately to Meredith, and especially when she stayed the night after Derek returned to the hospital, even going so far as to hog the middle of the bed.
I really loved the bit with everyone coming in and out of Meredith's house, and Meredith telling Susan 'it's not always like this'. And there's a pause. And Cristina adds 'Actually, it kind of is...'
After his fight with Callie, George goes to the only person he knows will get him through this: Izzie. My favorite was the line George had about thinking his marriage was a mistake, and Izzie's response 'Everyone who's been married has thought that at least once' or something to that effect. See? She was there for him. Except, I don't think the alcohol needed to be involved... And, while they did get drunk, Izzie did tell him to just go back 'like a dog with its tail between his legs' and try and make it work.

Meredith Grey: The daddy issues of past seasons come back to haunt her in the form of her father's wife Susan and, -gasp-, Thatcher Grey himself. Despite the fact that she seems to have recovered from the whole Ferryboat thing and her mother is cremated and chilling in the back of her closet, Meredith still doesn't want anything to do with this new 'family' being pressed upon her by everyone (including Derek, who agrees that she should at least have dinner with them). Meredith sucks it up and has Thatcher and Susan to dinner at her house, with Izzie cooking and Cristina ready to bail her out if needed. My favorite had to be when Meredith called him out on it being her, not Molly, in the picture.
Alex Karev: While we still didn't figure out where he was staying during the entire first two seasons, Alex has moved into the intern house. Still working with the pregnant Jane Doe, he admits he talked to her like a sister instead of a patient. He gives her medical advice that puts her baby's life at risk, and feels guilty about it afterwards. I gave an out loud 'awe' when it was revealed that Alex's hot date was actually checking up on his patient. And she told him she trusted him, and asked him to read her a bed time story or something. While I like Evilspawn Alex as much as the next guy, I was simply awed that his 'date' was Jane Doe and not, say, Addison (which, I'll admit, I was thinking). So cute.
Cristina Yang: A ghost from her past Stanford days comes back to haunt her in the form of Dr. Collin Marlow, whom she had a three year relationship with. After the somewhat awkward Public Display of Affection greeting, she reveals that she's engaged to Burke, and Marlow seems stunned, but puts on a happy front. However, he confides to Burke that Cristina saw marriage as pointless, as Marlow had proposed several times and she'd refused, causing a rift in Cristina and Burke's relationship. In a later confrontation, Cristina admits that it was a three year relationship with Marlow, and that she thought of marriage as pointless. But she wanted to do it to make Burke happy (how sweet is that?). Still, Burke seems to think that getting involved with mentors is a game of Cristina's, and their relationship is left uncertain while Cristina confides in Meredith.
George O'Malley: Still struggling with his falling out with Izzie, George finds himself talking about her a lot to Callie, who seems irritated about it. In person, though, George makes a point not to be 'normal' buddy buddy around Izzie. After all, they're currently in a fight. Or whatever. After finding out that Callie is loaded and an heiress, George confides in Meredith, who tells Izzie, who eventually uses it against Callie, causing another argument, which ended with Callie declaring that Izzie had feelings for him, and George being kicked out of Callie's hotel room. George goes to the only person he feels he can trust, Izzie, and asks her to convince him the marriage wasn't a mistake. Things seem well, but with alcohol involved, you can never tell...
Izzie Stevens: Struggling with ghosts from her past popping up everywhere in the form of Alex, who seems to have moved on, and with not being able to get over Denny, Izzie seems intent with keeping herself with at least one other person when around Alex. Still fighting with George, Izzie finds her clinic patient in need of Ortho care, which means she's working with Callie. Still not content with George's hasty marriage decision, she uses any information she has against Callie, but somehow ends up putting a rift between man and wife. George comes to her looking for answers, and she plays the best friend card well. When alcohol is involved, and George reveals that Callie thinks Izzie has the hots for George, things get a little...complicated.

Attendings and other such authorities:

Apparently, Mark and Addison's 60 day bet is still on.
The scenes with the Attendings fighting only seem to display how incompent any of them would be as Chief. While showing their worst qualities, I especially liked the one of Addison, Derek, and Mark. Derek was sort of defending Addison's view, which led Mark to snap back with 'She's not your wife, so don't defend her. And she's not your patient!' Nice.
The one where Derek had to go in and save his friend via cardio was well done as well, with Burke angry that Derek didn't call him. Apparently, everyone thinks everyone else is only out for themselves, when it's all accidental. Meanwhile, Bailey seems to think the Chief has made a decision about his replacement...
I thought it was sweet that Derek would walk Meredith through this awkward meeting with her father, and the conversation between Derek and Thatcher about Meredith was nice.
Derek admitting he's an ass had to be one of the happiest moments of my life. xD

Other:

Okay, George and Izzie...Fine, but did it have to be under those circumstances? Drunken roommates is not a good thing, even by my anti-shipping standards.
Know what annoys me about Callie? I don't think I'd mind her all that much if she didn't keep bringing George's friends into everything. I mean, yeah, Izzie's been butting in. But she's backed off, apparently for a few weeks. When George told Callie he'd told Meredith about the heiress thing, she basically ragged on Meredith. What right does she have to do that? Seriously. It bugs me.

Miracles Happen

...once in a while. Okay, allude to bad music over. Okay, so. I know I normally post my annual episode summary directly following an episode, but I was too emotionally charged to form a coherant thought last night. Besides, there was no way I could sit still long enough to write this. I mean, seriously, it was just too good an episode to sit still directly after. The acting was awesome, the story-line came through, the writing was FANTASTIC. In short, this was a good episode. Mind blowing even. This was a mind-blowingly good episode. Seriously.

3.17 Some Kind of Miracle
Featuring your mind-blowingly good host, Doc!

Important Points:

Dennies, Dylans, and Bonnies. Oh my!
- I loved Denny and Dylan. They were just sitting there, staring at Meredith at the beginning, all arms crossed and manly, arguing about how they were supposed to get through to Meredith and all. It was just so Denny to be all sensitive and such, and Dylan to be all 'business as usual'. Even when dead. The best was Meredith's 'no offense, but the first person I'd want to see is...Doc!' As a note, I totally squealed when my McDog jumped up onto the table.

- Such a nice touch to add in others who have died. It was interesting to see them all back again. So that's the scrub nurse, Dylan, Denny, Bonnie, and Doc. Grey's corpse reunion!

- Denny knew. He knew Meredith didn't just drown. He knew things about life up there. While that was somewhat creepy at first, it struck me particularly hard that all of them needed to get Meredith to admit to what she did before she could even have a fighting chance at life, and they only had so much time. He knew, but he couldn't tell her what he needed to know. She had to admit it herself. I don't know, but that seems like an analogy to life to me. If you don't admit to yourself what's going on with you, there's no chance you'll be able to make your life better. Props to the writers for that one.

- The Bonnie bleeding thing? That was supposed to be symbolic, too, I think. Even though Bonnie's dead, she still feels the pain of what happened in her life every day. And Meredith, being a surgical intern, wanted to save her. But she couldn't. The thing is, Bonnie's dead. Meredith was dead. There was nothing she could do. And, really, if Meredith would have stayed there with all the casualties of SGH, she wouldn't be able to help anyone she really cared about, either. The other interns, Derek, she'd only be able to sit around and wait for a piece of them. That was a lesson she needed to learn.

- Bonnie's little rant on life and death was really well done. What she said, how she was getting married one minute and dead the next, and how Meredith was walking around avoiding what was really bothering her, like she wanted to be dead...that was harsh, but true. The line about 'being a surgeon and having such little respect for life' was good.

- Loved the entire exchange about Denny knowing what happened in the shower. 'You see me in the bathtub?' "I do not see women in the bathtub. I wish I saw wome-' and then he dove right into how she had to have thought about drowning...And Meredith denied it. Again.

- Dylan's thing about not caring how Meredith got there, but whether she was here (as in dead) or not (as in living) was well written. There is no in between. You're either gonna fight for what you have, or you're not. That's basically what he was saying. So blunt, Dylan, but true.

- His thing about Bonnie and Denny being 'stuck' was interesting as well. That was where the entire story-line they had going about the different kinds of death came in. Dylan and the scrub nurse, for example, feel like they completed their mission and had a full life. That's why they were okay with being dead. People like Bonnie and Denny, on the other hand, died prematurely. They didn't feel like they finished what they were meant to do in life. That was touching, and yet it made me feel for Denny (and Bonnie) so much more.

- Denny asked Meredith (again) what happened in the water, and she told him she swam and fought when we all knew by now she obviously didn't, and he called her out on wanting to stay her because it was easier. I loved this enitre dialogue, especially the part about how she couldn't stay because of everyone else. Because George's dad died. Because Izzie lost Denny. Because Cristina watched her father bleed out in front of her at nine years old. They're breaking, because of her. They won't make it through another traumatizing experience. They need Meredith. She's one of their constants...Lose her, and they all break. So touching.

- And when he started talking about Derek? How Derek was a believer in soulmates and magic and all that jazz? Derek was waiting for her. She makes Derek Shepherd who he is today. If he lost her...well, I don't even want to know what kind of wreck he'd be. Even Doc would feel bad for him.

- Meredith admitting to Denny that she did think about it, that there was no point in fighting. And she let go. That obviously took a lot for her to openly admit that, even if Denny knew the entire time. But admitting to it, owning up to that, that's what made her able to go back. If she hadn't admitted that, she'd be dead.

- When Denny told Meredith that he'd just felt Izzie, how they were in the same place at the same time, and he had that look of longing and happiness on his face, I melted. He can almost hear her voice, almost touch her. And that's all he gets, that's the closest he can get to her. That was so sad...Yes, Doc teared up on that one, folks. When he went on to explain that you only get moments with the one you love, I felt for him so much. Thing is, even as much as he's hurting, Izzie's hurting the same amount. So sad.

- I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the water filling the hallway with Meredith alone was a symbolic thing. I'm guessing something about time running out (like when you're under water without air), and choosing to fight or run. Fight-or-Flight response, people.

- Bonnie and the others told Meredith she only had a little bit of time, and how it might be too late, you saw the distinct fear flash through Meredith's eyes. She chose life, she didn't want just pieces of Derek or Cristina. She couldn't stay there with them, and only get that. The hyperventilating and heavy breathing thing, though, that cued me to think she was gonna come back. I mean, if you can't breathe, usually it means you're dying. But in the Dead Zone it probably means the opposite, right?

- The final touch was amazing. Having Ellis die and having her and Meredith meet in the after-life was an amazing idea. I loved how Denny escorted her to meet Ellis. I loved how Ellis told Meredith 'you're not supposed to be here'. At first I thought she still didn't remember anything, but then I realized she meant it was too soon for Meredith to die. That was perfect, especially when she hugged Meredith and told her she was 'anything but ordinary'. Okay, semi-cheesy line, but still, nice to know that Mer and her mum are okay now. And Meredith really needed confirmation of that, given the circumstances.

- And running through the doors into the exam room was like running back to life...

- At the very end, when Izzie's heading out of the hospital at the end of her shift, and she stops...That was a really, really well done scene. I loved how she felt Denny was there, and how it seemed like she heard him say her name, and how she stayed there, as if drinking him in. And he stands there as she walks away, smiling, because she was there, and he was there. For a moment, it felt like they were together. Yeah, I cried.

The Interns:
- It was sort of nice how even though he was in a bad situation, Alex stood by his patient. It was probably the only thing to get bad thoughts about Meredith out of his mind, a coping mechanism or whatever, but he really helped that woman. She doesn't remember anything, and yet he spent his entire day finding out things about her. I loved how at the end he read that entire list of what they knew about her, and how her baby was a girl. The scenes with Alex and his patient are really well done. I always enjoy them.

- Cristina walking out on her shift and going to a 99 cent store was priceless. Meredith's her person, she doesn't like being around when she knows bad things are going to happen, and all that. Cristina sitting at the bar telling Joe about the store was pretty funny, but I particularly liked the scenes with Joe and Burke talking about how she won't recover from this death if she's not there to say goodbye. Those were really good, acting and writing wise. When Cristina finally did show up, and saw them giving up, she demanded they try again. And it worked. I especially liked seeing Cristina all concerned and such for a brief moment when Meredith's trying to form a word, and then she's all 'Your brain is fine. You just need to make a word!' and she says 'ouch'. Priceless.

- George. Well, there wasn't a whole lot of George this episode, but the scenes he was in were directed a lot about his and Izzie's relationship. So, you could pretty much call this bit the 'Izzie George' segment of my review.

Anyway. I know Izzie's still hurting from the loss of Denny and all, and how she has so little to hold on to and George is pretty much one of her only outlets, but does she really HAVE to take it out on Callie? I think it's more then just the fact that she took George away from her. It's the fact that Callie's married, and happy, and Izzie was the one who was supposed to be married first. And she can't be mad at George. It's literally not possible. So she takes it out on Callie.

And you all know I'm no Callie lover, but I was kind of glad to see Izzie put in her place by her. Seriously, the man has a wife now. And also, though I love Izzie to death, I'm glad George spoke out about it, too. It was kind of sad, how he said he needed her to be there for him, but she's not there for him lately. She needs to accept that George's life is different now, but he's still George. And, eventually, I think George'll forgive her, once she comes around, despite his avoiding her at the end of the episode.

- When the other three interns were standing outside Meredith's room, watching her talk to Cristina, I melted. I love how they're such a close-knit group. It's heartwarming, really.

Attendings and other such authorities:
- Derek talking to that guy, about how his wife was in the accident, and how all they could do was wait for the doctors...I was just waiting for Derek to say he was a doctor, too, and he was, but he stopped himself. It's hard, being on the other side of things. And Derek sees that now.

- Derek with Ellis was a hard scene to watch. On one hand, Ellis has Altzheimer's, and Derek yelling at her about how she broke Meredith was outrageous. But, on the other hand, he's right. If it wasn't for Ellis telling Meredith she's ordinary, maybe she wouldn't be all dark and twists. So I was kind of torn between liking and hating Derek at this point. But it's hard to be mad at a guy whose girlfriend might be dead.

- Loved Addison's talk with Derek, how he doesn't get to break down. He can't. It shows she still cares for him, and can talk to him in a nice, comforting way when he needs it. And he accepted it, too.

- The Chief fighting to keep Meredith alive even when other people were convinced she was gone was touching. This was Ellis Grey's daughter, it could have been his step-daughter. And he needed to save her, whatever it took.

- Derek trying to save Ellis was so sad. He was trying, really trying, but it was her time to go. That did it for me. I liked Derek tonight. Hard not to, really.

- Bailey literally yelling at Meredith about how everyone was trying for her was pretty good. She talked about how everyone in the hospital was worried about her and all, and how she had to fight. Very Bailey.

- Meredith coming back was well done. Nothing too miraculous like her being completely healed, so that was good.

- Sydney talking to Bailey afterward about how Bailey would give her a run for her money in the Chief Resident race was funny, especially when Bailey was all 'yeah, I will'.

- Addison and Mark's bet? That was kind of funny, especially since it's Mark. How long do you think it'll last? I'm taking bets. The best was 'you can't sleep with anyone, either' and Addison's 'who would I possibly be sleeping with?' Cut to Alex. xD

- The Chief talking to Ellis at the end was so sad. He's really going to miss her, and everything he was saying was touching, how he'd miss her voice and all. But the dramatics were finally broken when he said 'I dyed my hair. For the ladies'. Just like Grey's to break the tense moments...xD

- Derek coming to see Meredith was actually a happy reunion for me. Even if I'm not a huge Derek fan, I don't wish anything on him. And sleeping in a hospital bed was cute.

Notes:
- Loved the lighting in the 'heaven' scenes.

- Great acting, as always.

- AMAZING writing. One of the best episodes yet. I'm still shaking.

- I was kind of disappointed that Dylan only made a few appearances, but more then happy to see Denny again. I miss him.

- No new Grey's 'til March. How will we survive?
